Easy ginger biscuits

Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ cup butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp golden syrup
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190°C and line your baking sheets with baking paper.
  2. Add the flour to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Using your fingertips, rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  4. Add the rest of the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. You can then add the golden syrup and egg to the mixture.
  6. Mix everything together until you have a smooth dough.
  7. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough onto a lightly floured surface until it is about 5mm thick.
  8. Once that is done, use cookie cutters to cut out different cookie shapes and place them on your baking tray.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Until they become golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool before decorating.
