Kinetic Sand

Make your own vibrant, colorful sand in 4 easy steps!

You need:

• 1 cup of fine sand (from the sandpit)
• ½ teaspoon cornflour (Maizina)
• 1 teaspoon of dish soap
• Food coloring
• A mixing bowl, large spoon, and a baking sheet or tray with sides

Method:

1. Mix the sand and cornflour in a large mixing bowl with a spoon.
2. Add the dish soap and mix well.
3. Then you can mix in a few drops of food colouring. The amount depends on how bright you want the sand to be.
4. Scoop the mixture into the baking tray/tray and let it dry for about an hour or two.
5. And there it is, ready to play! Throw plastic toys, cutlery, and cookie cutters into the sand to create different shapes and patterns.
