Dit bring vir my soveel nostalgiese herinneringe terug van toe ek op skool was. Ek het baie min geweet van rugby – en ek moet bieg, ek ken vandag nog nie al die reëls nie, maar ek onthou die gevoel van eenheid, spangees en samesyn. Ons het rugbytruie skool toe gedra en as familie en vriende saam gebraai met elke wedstryd. Die kinders het buite bal gespeel en geswem, koue waatlemoen geëet en ysies gedeel. Soms het ons ‘n tweede keer gebraai en later almal saam voor die televisie ontspan met tee en roosterbroodjies. Dis so lekker om te sien hoe ‘n nasie saamstaan tydens sport geleenthede. Die Facebook groep #iamstaying roer net so aan die hartsnare. Op hierdie groep deel Suid-Afrikaners gebeurtenisse waar iemand ‘n goeie daad gedoen het of ‘n positiewe ondervinding wat hulle gehad het. Dis werklik aansteeklik – mens begin een storie lees en dan as jy weer sien is dit 40 minute later! Dit laat my weereens besef hoe baie mooi mense in ons land bly en hoe ryk aan kultuur ons land is.
