Die Wêreld Gesondheids Organisasie (WHO) het sopas ‘gaming’ as ‘n verslawende toestand geklassifiseer. Sommige ouers is baie opgewonde wanneer die kinders saam TV- of rekenaarspeletjies begin speel, want dit beteken dat tekenprente opsygeskuif word en dat daar meer tyd is vir speletjies! Maar hierdie onskuldige speletjies kan ernstige nagevolge dra. Geweldadige speletjies kan kinders ontstel, verkeerde, aggressiewe gedrag navore bring, om nie eers te praat van nagmerries nie. Kinders leer deur ons voorbeeld. Ek het onlangs ‘n prentjie gesien van ‘n mamma wat ‘n ander vrou vra hoe op aarde sy haar kinders kry om te lees… die een mamma het ‘n boek vasgehou en die ander een ‘n selfoon – kan jy raai wie is wie? Die lewe is gejaag, tyd is min en dit is skrikwekkend om te sien hoe baie mense op hul fone is as hulle bestuur of saam met die gesin ‘familietyd’ het.
