Sommige ouers raak toenemend bekommerd dat die kinders uitmis op geleenthede om hulle talente te ontwikkel. Of van ons wil die kinders se skedule nou vol prop met aktiwiteite en stimulering om op te maak vir verlore tyd. Maar wees versigtig vir te vinnig te veel! Veral op ‘n jong ouderdom en na die onsekere paar maande wat ons die jaar beleef het. Navorsing bewys dat kinders nou meer tyd by die skool, voor skerms en aan buitemuurse aktiwiteite spandeer as vroeër jare en dus minder speel. Dit loop hand aan hand met verhoogde gevalle van angs en depressie by kinders. Daar is ook bewys dat kinders minder geneig is tot angstigheid en depressie gedurende hulle lewens as hulle in beheer voel. Tydens ongestruktureerde speeltyd leer kinders hulself beter ken en voel hulle ook meer in beheer van hulle wêreldjies.
